Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every child is capable of great things when properly motivated and supported. The classroom is a place where all students are advocated for physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I want my students to understand the importance of a growth mindset, and know that taking risks can lead to wonderful triumphs. It is my prerogative as an educator to ensure that my students receive all that is needed to foster a sense of individuality and belonging in the classroom.

I am the facilitator of learning in my classroom, and it is my priority to encourage students to think outside of the box. I challenge my students to create personal and meaningful art by designing choice-based projects and implementing self reflection. I incorporate cross-curricular experiences, as well as real-world art career activities to show the importance and relevance of art in the "real world". I strive to show my students the value of work ethic, perseverance, and problem-solving abilities for every situation in their lives. Not every student will grow up to be an artist, however, I believe it is my job to show every student that they have the potential to do so.
